2025 Scholarships Awarded

The Mesquite Western Poets is proud to announce the award of four one-thousand dollar scholarships to local area high school senior graduates. Everyone who has attended a Mesquite Western Roundup is a contributor to this scholarship program. Well done!


Here are the 2025 awardees:


Ari Easton

Ari is an honors graduate of Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite. She completed her high school education with an impressive 4.0 GPA and a weighted GPA of 4.950, placing her at the top of her senior class. Ari's passion for sports led her to participate as a three-sport athlete, with her flag football team securing the State Championship title three times. Notably, she holds the national high school record for interceptions in a single season (25). Additionally, Ari was an active member of the Future Farmers of America and maintained part-time employment during her high school years. She intends to further her education at Utah Tech University, aiming to pursue a career as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

 

Kevin Nicolas

Kevin is an honors graduate of Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite. He completed his high school education at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA and a weighted GPA of 4.950. Kevin was actively involved in Future Farmers of America, serving as Reporter and organizing community-oriented events to promote awareness about FFA. Additionally, he led and managed the Robotics team, which achieved regional competitiveness. Outside of school, Kevin worked as a Developmental Services Intern at the City of Mesquite. He plans to atte

 

Lindsey Marshall

Lindsey is a graduate of Virgin Valley High School, where she achieved a GPA of 3.89 and a weighted GPA of 4.72. She has demonstrated a strong passion for animals and worked at Bark! during her high school years. Lindsey was an active member of the Future Farmers of America and contributed her photography skills to the yearbook staff. As a senior, she served as team captain of the Varsity Tennis Team, having been a member for three years. Lindsey plans to pursue higher education at Utah State University, majoring in Wildlife Ecology and Management.

 

Teagen Jenson

Teagen is a graduate of Moapa Valley High School where she served as Co-Valedictorian for her graduating class. For Teagen, the best part of high school was Future Farmers of America, and she will miss competing in FFA events. She was also a member of the Varsity Tennis Team. She will be attending Southern Utah University, majoring in biology with a focus on zoology and a minor in agriculture. She plans to work toward becoming a veterinarian and hopes to someday become a self-sufficient homesteader.
